"Creating Success through Synergy"
Bone and Joint Decade Meeting in Oman, November 27-28, 2000
Joyce Gordon attended the Bone and Joint Decade National Coordinators Meeting in Muscat Oman November 27-28, 2000. Joyce attended the meeting as an IOF and patient society representative as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Canada's National Action Network for the Decade. The theme of the meeting was "Creating Success through Synergy". Joyce attended the International Steering Committee Meeting, facilitated two strategic planning workshops and gave a closing presentation on "Building Unity Lessons from the Real World The IOF experience". A report on the meeting was presented to the meeting of National Societies and the IOF Board in Liege Belgium.
Dr. Wahid Ali Said Al Kharusi, the Oman National Action Network Coordinator, and staff were gracious hosts and did an excellent job in organizing and coordinating the event. Much synergy was created through the event itself and osteoporosis and IOF, through Mary Anderson's involvement, has a strong presence within the Bone and Joint Decade initiative. We all need to get involved and stay involved in this global effort. See the BJD web site for a list of NAN coordinators and their contact details.
