IOF-Lilly Policy Initiative Grants

These grants were awarded to IOF member societies from 2001 to 2003. The grants provided valuable support to 15 IOF member societies, enabling them to carry out effective policy-related projects. The objective was to give osteoporosis the priority it deserves in the health system, particularly by promoting reimbursement of osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment before the first fracture. The scarcity of diagnostic equipment and lack of reimbursement of diagnostic tests and medication by health insurers are among the major obstacles for early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for osteoporosis patients.
