Telephone help line The NOS nurses helpline is staffed Monday to Friday during office hours. Call on (+44) 01761 472721
Patient support groups The NOS has over 130 support groups based around the United Kingdom.
Education materials for public The National Osteoporosis Society has over 20 different publications for the public, including booklets, leaflets and awareness posters. It also has a twenty minute video available on VHS and CD rom. VHS copies with closed caption subtitles and signing are also available. Call on (+44) 01761 471771
Education materials for doctors The National Osteoporosis Society has a selection of publications for professionals, including guideline and integrated care pathway documents.

Science/medical Quarterly magazine : Osteoporosis Review for Professional members.
Primary care training days aimed at GPs and key decision makers.
Annual Forum for sharing best practice of work in primary care across the UK.
Nurse training courses in osteoporosis and professional network with newsletter and meetings;
Regular small meetings plus biennial International Bath meeting for 700 international delegates. Primary Care Strategy document updated October 2002;
Position statements on bone densitometry.
Newsletters to professional members;
National training scheme for Bone Densitometry for DXA/QUS/CT operators.
Presentations (slide & Powerpoint on osteopororis for medical and lay audicence)
Award of scientific research grants into osteoporosis exceeding 300,000 euros annually.
Osteoporosis Nurse Initiative -audit of women aged 75+ within Primary Care by specialist nurses.
Support local, regional groups Over 130 NOS Support Groups meet across the UK to share information, help raise crucial funds and offer support to people with osteoporosis, their families and carers. For men and women who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, this is an ideal way to share experiences and find out more about help and advice in their area.
Lobbying The NOS lobbies politicians in all UK Parliaments, Civil Servants working in the area of health, hospitals, Primary Care Organisations and strategic health authorities
