Public meeting held on in Thessaloniki for World Osteoporosis Day
The Hellenic Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism celebrated World Osteoporosis Day in Thessaloniki , the second largest city in Greece, on the 19th of October 2003.
A public meeting was held in a large theatre, featuring five to six presentations on osteoporosis, and its relation to nutrition, its pathology and the consequences - fractures as a result of falls. Prevention was also a prominent theme. The audience included people of all ages and social backgrounds. The event was supported by posters and the one-minute risk test. Prof. Peter Burckhardt, Chair of IOF’s Committee of National Societies was invited to speak on the occasion.
