A Programme on “Self Management Of Osteoporosis”

With the Motto- Bone Health -a Right Realize it
On occasion of World Osteoporosis Day – 20th October Arthritis Foundation Of India (AFI) in collaboration with Bapu Nature cure Hospital & Yogashram Patparganj Had Organized two days special Yoga Training Camp named “Self Management Of Osteoporosis”. AFI Chairman Dr Sushil Sharma said self management programme for people with weak bones includes a workshop for teaching them various Asanas (exercises in Yoga) which will keep their Bones fit & once learnt they can regularly practice these asanas at home. Also natural therapy like Hydrotherapy, Acupuncture and Mud Therapy about how to deal with Bony Pains was taught. Osteoporosis is a silent epidemic World over, In India not only Women even the Children & Men are susceptible to it which leads to deformities in children& Calcium & Vitamin D metabolism defects (Osteomalacia) in young Men too. Dr Sushil Sharma stressed that to prevent it, a Modified lifestyle & food habits need to be inculcated. To drive home the message in an easy way Arthritis Foundation of India had put up an Exhibition (Poster Gallery) here . The posters were colorful, very informative & easy to understand. The Gallery was a big hit.
Dr Nair the Director of Bapu Nature Cure said that the camp was very successful & hundreds of people who got free Allopathic & Arurvedic checkups were specially appreciative about the Yogic concept of self management & the poster Gallery. Mr. Harsh Sharma Trustee AFI asked people to take up one minute risk test for the weak bones & if found out at risk to take up Bone Density Test at our next Camp. The Event was Widely covered by the national Press.
