The Lebanese Society Honors Mrs. Nazek Hariri and the Members of 'The 206: A Bone Fund'
Large Attendance at Fundraising Dinner/Concert
More than 800 persons attended an extremely successful fundraising dinner/concert on June 1st at BIEL - Beirut's newest seafront venue - in honor of Mrs. Nazek Hariri and all the members of 'The 206: A Bone Fund'. Mrs. Hariri, wife of Lebanon's Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, is the President of the Fund and First Ambassador of the IOF.

Attending this special event were numerous leading figures from Lebanese society: Prime Minister and Mrs. Rafic Hariri, former First Lady, Mrs. Mona Hraoui, eleven ministers from the present and previous governments, the Jordanian Ambassador and Mrs. Anmar Al-Hmoud, representatives from ministries and from the Lebanese Red Cross, and many other social figures, including fourteen of the members of 'The 206'.
IOF's Prof. Pierre Delmas and Suzanna Gorga were also present, and Prof. Delmas gave a short speech, in which he applauded 'The 206' members' commitment to the cause and called upon them to become actively involved in encouraging the recruitment of new members.

In the course of the evening, LOPS' President, Mrs. Maha Makari, gave a speech, complemented by projected images, in which she paid tribute to Mrs. Nazek Hariri, who has worked tirelessly on behalf of 'The 206'. She also outlined the achievements of 'The 206' projects to date and gave a brief background of the history of osteoporosis advocacy both worldwide and in Lebanon.
The evening culminated in a concert given by Kazem El Saher and his orchestra. The many admirers of the Iraqi-born singer and poet remained until the early hours of the morning in happy appreciation of the talents of this world-renowned star.
