EARLY TRENDS INDICATE RIO CONGRESS WILL BE BIGGEST OSTEOPOROSIS CONFERENCE EVER

NYON, Switzerland
January 9, 2004

Based on early registrations, exhibition space sold and number of abstracts received, the 2004 IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis in Rio will be the biggest ever.

"These early indicators suggest to us that the upcoming Rio congress is on track for being at least as successful as the previous IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis, held in 2002 in Lisbon, Portugal," noted Daniel Navid, IOF chief executive officer.

The 2002 IOF WCO hosted more than 5,000 participants, making it the largest scientific conference devoted exclusively to osteoporosis. For the 2004 IOF WCO, all the satellite symposia have been sold, early registrations are running at a higher level than for Lisbon, and early trends indicate that more than 500 scientific abstracts will be submitted for the 2004 IOF WCO, more than were received for the 2002 IOF WCO in Lisbon.
