As the leading conference in the field, the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis offers clinicians and scientists from around the world an overview of the most recent developments and cutting-edge research in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. The Congress also represents a unique opportunity for stimulating interaction, not just for research specialists, but also for practitioners and other clinical health professionals who can profit from the exchange of information provided in numerous meet-the-expert sessions.

Eight Plenary Sessions: Each session will be dedicated to a single theme and will feature an invited speaker along with oral communications selected from submitted abstracts. Simultaneous translation of plenary lectures into Spanish and Portuguese will be available.
Poster Sessions: All submitted abstracts not scheduled for oral presentation will be eligible for poster presentation
Meet-the Expert Sessions: Each day from May 15 to May 17 specialists will lead exchanges on 21 key topics
Satellite Symposia: There will be eight concurrent Satellite Symposia, each focused on separate topics

Awards Information

IOF-Sponsored Fellowships
These fellowships will be awarded to the winners during the plenary sessions. The deadline for applications was in December 2003.

  • IOF Claus Christiansen Research Fellowship
    This award is named after one of the three founding members of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis (now IOF) who has made significant contributions to osteoporosis research and the Foundation. It is awarded to scientists for promising research projects with international relevance in the field of osteoporosis and is valued at euro 45,000.
     
  • IOF-Servier Young Investigator Research Fellowship
    Generously supported by an unrestricted grant from Servier Research Group, this fellowship is awarded to investigators under the age of 40 for original osteoporosis research of significant value and international relevance. It is valued at euro 40,000. Deadline for applications is December 1, 2003.
